The Benefits of Archery

Posted on Posted in Activities, Parties

Summer may soon be over, but that doesn’t mean you can’t go out and enjoy what’s left of the nice weather. Here at Absolutely Scotland, we specialise in providing the very best corporate entertainment in Scotland, and one of our favourite activities is archery.

With this elegant and ancient sport there is much to be enjoyed- for one it’s a great booster for your physical and mental health, and it’s hard not to imagine ourselves as Robin Hood or Katniss Everdeen when we draw back that string.

What many people don’t know however, are the many benefits of picking up a bow and ‘loosing’ a shaft or two but what is it that makes archery so special:

It’s open to all
Yes, archery is a sport for everybody. It can be done by any able bodied or disabled person; even those with problems with their sight can take part with special tactile equipment.

It improves focus
While archery requires some physical strength, it also requires some mental fitness and the more you practise the more you’ll find yourself improving your focus, flexibility and attention skills. It’s also great for youngsters in teaching the importance of patience. Some great skills to take back to the work place!

It’s both an indoor and outdoor sport

Archery can be practised both indoors and outdoors with many clubs having access to indoor facilities over the winter season meaning the cold weather will not create a barrier in participating.

It’s a social sport

People from every walk of life can enjoy archery and almost any age group can give it a go with children as young as 6 and adults as old as 80 taking part in it. It also teaches the benefits of teamwork with some events involving groups of people loosing as a team.

It improves self-confidence

Archery provides great satisfaction in combining both your mental and physical capabilities to good effect. Wherever you end up hitting the target, every archer will feel a sense of satisfaction seeing the effect of their shot, as well as having won a personal mental battle.

It teaches the importance of safety

Like many sports, archery can be extremely dangerous if people are reckless but the sport teaches people to be responsible for one another as well as for the equipment they’re using.

But the main benefit of archery is fun! That’s why we here at Absolutely Scotland we want to provide you with the best archery experience around- but that’s just one of the activities we specialise in! To find out more, contact us on 01786 359 585 and a member of our team will be happy to help.
